1. Who this policy covers
Folio is the PDF editor offered under the PrivitMedia brand. This policy explains information used by Folio and its related account and product pages. Separate PrivitMedia client projects and other websites may have their own agreements and privacy notices.
Folio’s operator is Privit Media LLC, 558 Kensington Lake Circle, Brandon, FL 33511, United States. Contact info@privitmedia.com for privacy questions and requests.
2. Documents on your device
Opening, viewing, annotating, merging, signing and redacting a PDF happens in your browser. Folio keeps original PDFs, editing history, document names, thumbnails, preferences and Business annotation templates in browser storage on that device. These local copies are not automatically synchronized to your account.
A cloud copy is uploaded only when you choose Save to cloud and the save succeeds. Local processing does not mean the website is invisible to its hosting, sign-in or font providers. People who can access your browser profile or device may also access its locally saved documents.
Removing a cloud copy does not remove your browser-local originals, downloads, templates, or another device’s copies. Clear the site’s browser storage to remove local workspace data, after downloading anything you want to keep. PrivitMedia cannot remotely erase copies on your devices.
3. Information the account and cloud service receive
Account information: the account identifier, email address and available display name supplied through ChatGPT sign-in. We do not receive your ChatGPT password or your conversation history as part of Folio sign-in.
Billing information: the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, purchased plan, payment or subscription status, renewal or access dates, and relevant webhook event identifiers. Stripe collects payment details directly on its hosted checkout and billing pages. Folio does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
Cloud documents: the PDF copies you explicitly save, their names, sizes, creation times, upload state, storage keys and the account that owns them. A saved copy includes exported edits. Editable browser history and templates are not included as separate synchronized records.
Agreement records: your account identifier, the legal document version you affirmatively accepted and the acceptance time. We do not add your IP address to this acceptance record.
Membership administration: complimentary plan grants, their start and expiry dates, suspension or restoration status, administrator reasons and a history identifying the administrator, action and time. These records support access control, promotions, security and dispute resolution. Internal administrator notes are not shown to other customers.
Currency display: the hosting edge may supply an approximate country, and your browser language/region or chosen display currency helps select a local price estimate. No GPS permission is requested. These display choices do not set the charged amount. They are not added to your marketing profile or saved as customer location records by this feature.
Free-plan usage: an opaque PDF-download request identifier, your account identifier, the current weekly period and its authorization time. These records enforce the free allowance across devices; PDF contents are not uploaded to count a download. Marketing preferences: your email, optional subscription choice, the wording version, choice source and time, and a record of later withdrawals or changes.
Support and inquiries: information you voluntarily send, including your name, email, business details, message and any attachments. Do not send sensitive documents unless they are needed for your request.
Technical information: hosting and network providers may receive IP addresses, browser or device information, request times, URLs and diagnostic or security logs when serving the website. The current Folio code does not include an advertising or behavioral analytics tracker.
4. Why information is used
To sign you in, connect your purchases and complimentary memberships to your account, provide private cloud storage, calculate storage usage, deliver saved copies and process your removal requests; to take and verify payments through Stripe; to remember agreement acceptance; to administer access restrictions and restoration; and to respond to support requests.
To protect the service, investigate misuse or failures, resolve disputes and meet applicable accounting, tax and other legal duties. Access to cloud documents is limited to providing and protecting the service and responding to authorized support or lawful requests. We do not claim ownership of your PDFs.
Folio’s PDF tools do not send PDFs to an AI model for document processing. In this release, PrivitMedia does not sell PDF contents or use them for targeted advertising. The privacy practices of sign-in, hosting and payment providers also apply to the information those providers receive.
5. Providers and other disclosures
The present implementation uses OpenAI’s Sites and ChatGPT sign-in platform for hosting and identity, Cloudflare services for application delivery, account records and private object storage, Stripe for payments and billing, and Neoserv for the public foliopdf.si website. Exchange Rate API supplies public USD reference rates through an anonymous server request; Folio sends it no PDF, account email or customer identifier for that lookup. The PrivitMedia marketing page and editor load fonts from Google Fonts; Google receives the technical information needed to serve those font requests. Those providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy policies.
Your cloud PDFs are not submitted to Stripe to take payment. Signing in does not make your saved PDFs visible to other Folio customers. Business storage is private to each account; shared company folders and team administration are not included.
Information may also be disclosed to professional advisers or authorities when necessary for legal obligations, security or the protection of rights, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards. We do not disclose more information than is needed for the purpose.
6. Cookies and browser storage
The sign-in and hosting platform may use essential cookies or similar storage to maintain authentication and protect access. Folio uses browser storage to keep your local workspace. Stripe and Google apply their own storage and technical practices on their services.
The current Folio application does not set advertising cookies. If optional analytics or advertising features are introduced, the notice and any legally required choices must be updated before they are enabled. Blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in or saving local work.
7. Optional marketing emails
Marketing is optional and separate from the User Agreement. The signup box starts unchecked. If you opt in, Privit Media LLC may use your email and available display name for news and offers about Folio and PrivitMedia. We do not add you to marketing because you accepted service terms, started a free account or paid for a plan.
Change your preference in your Folio account or contact info@privitmedia.com. Declining or withdrawing marketing permission does not affect free or paid access. Essential service, security and billing communications are separate from marketing and may still be sent when necessary. Marketing messages must identify the sender and offer an unsubscribe method.
An email delivery provider may process the subscribed mailing list when campaigns are enabled. No campaign provider is connected in the current release and no bulk campaigns are automatically sent by signup. Before sending begins, PrivitMedia must confirm its provider arrangements and unsubscribe handling. Marketing consent and withdrawal records may be retained to honor preferences and demonstrate the choices you made.
8. Security and international processing
The deployed service uses HTTPS, account-based authorization checks and private cloud object access. Cloud files are protected by access controls, not by end-to-end encryption with keys held only by you. Authorized service operators and providers may be able to access stored data for the purposes described here.
No Internet service, device or browser storage is completely secure. Keep your account and devices secure and download copies of important files. Providers may process information outside your country. Any required international transfer safeguards and provider agreements must be confirmed for the final customer deployment; this policy does not promise a particular data-residency region.
9. Retention and deletion
Local workspace data remains in your browser until you remove it, clear site storage, change or lose access to that browser profile, or the browser removes it. PrivitMedia does not control those local retention decisions.
Saved cloud PDFs remain stored until you remove them or an authorized account-deletion process removes them. Canceling or ending a subscription does not automatically delete files. The current release has no automatic deletion job for expired accounts; downloads and removals remain available after paid access ends.
Removing a saved PDF deletes the active cloud object and its document record. Copies already downloaded or shared are unaffected. Provider backups, security logs or legally retained records may not be erased at the same time.
Account, billing and agreement records are kept as needed to operate the service, handle disputes and meet legal duties. The present implementation does not automatically purge those records. Contact us to request account closure or deletion; we will explain any records that must be retained and apply the retention requirements of the final operating jurisdiction.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
You can keep your PDFs on your device, decline cloud saving, download or remove your saved copies and manage renewal through Stripe. To request access, correction, account closure, deletion, restriction or portability of account information, email info@privitmedia.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting. These requests are handled by support; there is no automatic account-deletion button in this release.
Where local law provides them, you may object to certain processing, withdraw consent for processing based on consent, appeal a rights decision or complain to the relevant privacy authority. Exceptions may apply where information is required for an active service, legal duties or claims. We respond within the time required by applicable law. A privacy-policy acknowledgment is not blanket consent to optional processing or a waiver of privacy rights.
11. Legal grounds where required
Where a legal basis is required, account access, billing and requested cloud storage are used to perform the service agreement; security, support and service administration rely on legitimate interests where permitted; required accounting and legal disclosures rely on legal obligations. If an optional feature requires consent, that feature must obtain appropriate separate consent. Mandatory local privacy rights apply regardless of this policy.
12. Age, updates and contact
Folio is intended for adults who can enter the service agreement. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Folio, contact us so we can review it.
The date and version at the top identify this notice. Material changes will be disclosed through the service or another appropriate notice before they take effect, as required by law. Contact info@privitmedia.com with privacy questions or requests.
